Two, large 995kW Nordheat boilers were installed at this Strawberry Farm back in 2015. However they’d had ongoing reliability problems and multiple refractory failures since commissioning.
CH biomass was invited to the site to undertake a technical review of the installation. After just one day conducting an onsite survey, the team discovered that the heat exchanger cleaning mechanism hadn’t been installed correctly in the boiler.
Returning back to the site the C&H engineers carried out repair works to ensure that parts were fitted correctly – this included a rebuild of the boiler combustion chambers and redesign to the boiler arch installation to optimise combustion.
Working in partnership with the boiler software supplier, CH Biomass were able to modify operating protocols to ensure correct boiler set up and prevent future issues at the site.
Nigel Walters, Strawberry farm owner commented:
“Our boilers had constant problems since installation and never ran properly. In just over a week CH Biomass were able to get to the bottom of the problems and solve the root causes, rather than just cover over the symptoms – we are delighted.”
